“Much Ado about Nothing” – Review
(by Helena Kamprolf)

On Tuesday, the 8th of March, the play “Much Ado about Nothing”, written by William Shakespeare, was staged in the theatre “Wilhelmshöhe” in Lingen.
The comedy of mistaken identity - one of Shakespeare’s few plays written in prose - is about two couples of lovers who despite twists and turns of their love finally get married.
The upper classes of “Franziskusgymnasium” and “Gymnasium Georgianum” enjoyed the comedy played by the British ensemble “TNT Theatre Britain”. The six actors switched brilliantly between different roles and used the full potential of the minimalist scenery. The high-level register and British accent made it sometimes difficult to follow. However, the exaggerated gestures and facial expressions helped to understand the main contents. The singing and dancing as well as the “spontaneous acting” of a girl from the audience made the play refreshingly varied.
All in all, I am of the opinion that the funny play “Much Ado about Nothing” is well worth watching, especially if you haven’t seen a play in English language before.
