Project on immigration into the United States

In our English course, we – i.e. the year 8a of the Franziskusgymnasium in Lingen – dealt with the topic of immigration into the U.S. with our English teacher Mrs. Groba.

After a short general introduction into the topic, we split up into different groups of experts to get more detailed information on a particular group of people living in the U.S. today. Thus, we found out some interesting facts concerning Native Americans, Afro-Americans, the Pilgrim Fathers, European settlers, Irish immigrants, Asian immigrants, Cuban immigrants and, last but not least, German immigrants.

Having searched the internet for information, each group made a Power-Point presentation to present the topic to our classmates. For most of us, it was the first time to work with Power-Point and to present a topic in English, so we were rather excited. Nevertheless, we managed quite well and thought it might be a good idea to publish our results on the web site of the school so that more people can get an insight into the history of immigration in the United States.

So, in case you are interested, you are more than welcome to have a glimpse at our work! We hope you will enjoy browsing our presentations!?
